Step Three of the Five Steps to Aligning With Your Purpose is, “Find Your Passions and Purpose.”

One of the challenges many people have when looking at this area is that they have lost track of what they are passionate about as they focus on making a living.

I was talking to a friend of mine a few months ago about this and her take on the subject was not unusual.

I had asked her what were the things she loved to do, that gave her joy and pleasure. She looked at me blankly.

“I haven’t got the time, the energy or the money to do the things I used to enjoy when I was younger,” she said. “You know how it is – the kids come first, and by the time I’ve got home from work, shopped, cooked, taken them to scouts or football practice, all I can do is collapse in front of the TV!” her answer saddened me, yet I could relate to what she was saying completely.

discover your life purpose

I thought back to when we were in our teens and early twenties. We’d had such fun, doing all sorts of things when we felt like it, travelling and broadening our minds. We had great dreams for our future, we were going to change the world…but somewhere along the way, we got caught up in the expectations of others. We worked hard at school, got good grades, continued on to university, got a job, bought a house, got married, had a family…all our own choices you understand, but we lost track of some of the things we had loved to do.

So how do you “rediscover” your passions? Well, one of the best ways I have come across is the Passion Test, developed by Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood.
